Thank you RoofPro for making our roof and skylight replacement as stress free as possible. We had moved into our home five years ago and noticed that our roof, which was only ten years old, was warping and looked like a washboard. We contacted four roofing contractors to diagnose the cause of the problem and to get a quote for two new skylights. There was RoofPro, two local contractors referred to us by neighbors and a large roofing company that advertises frequently on TV. Will Moore from RoofPro stood out as the most experienced and knowledgeable of the estimators. Not only did he show us that the roof was failing because of ventilation problems, he was the only estimator that showed us that our porch roof had structural problems that would need to be addressed before a new roof could be installed. We decided to forego repairs and asked the roofing companies for replacement quotes. RoofPro's proposal was thorough and detailed how the existing ventilation issues would be addressed. The company that advertised on TV just emailed an amount without a detailed contract that was $20,000 higher than RoofPro's and then called back two days later saying they were running a special that was still $12,000 higher. One local roofer did not include the porch roof in their estimate and the fourth one did not submit a written proposal. We signed our contract with RoofPro even though one of the proposals was slightly lower. They were the most knowledgeable, detailed and didn't use any gimmicks with their pricing. Within two days of signing our contract our project was scheduled for the following week. Our project manager, Ken Stanley, and his work crew showed up promptly at 7:30 to begin work. Ken was on site all day and was easily approachable to answer our questions. The new skylights required access to the inside of our home and the workers showed great care covering our floors and furniture and putting up plastic curtains to keep dust from spreading throughout our home. When their work was completed they made sure that everything was as clean as when they arrived. The new roof, skylights and cleanup were all completed the same day. We are very happy with the look of our new roof and love our new skylights. I highly recommend that anyone considering any exterior work to their home get an estimate from RoofPro.Posted on Michael M34Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Roof Pro provided rapid and efficient response to our leaky roof problem. Jim Para conducted a thorough evaluation both inside and outside the structure and provided detailed feedback and potential fix action options. With the age of the house and previous water damage we chose a complete roof system replacement. Bracing for the cost, we were thrilled with the final estimate. Ken Stanley and his installation team's professionalism, quality of workmanship, and speed in getting the leaky roof replaced before the upcoming rains set in thankfully prevented further water damage . We witnessed a well oiled machine in operation. Well Done Roof Pro. We highly recommended this team !! v/r MikePosted on Skip NeesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great past experiences with Jim Para and RoofPRO at both our house and our daughters. This time it was just a small leak. Jim was prompt in stopping by to take a look and give us the estimate. Very pleased they had a slot open up in a few days and the repair was done before the next big rain. Crew was great showing me the bad plywood which they then replaced. Amazing how well they matched the rest of the roof even though those shingles are twenty years old. Really appreciate the detailed before and after photos they provided.Posted on Ewan AlexanderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The crew did a terrific job. Residential Roof Materials for Laurel Homes
Laurel has a mix of housing styles, ages, and additions, which means we see a range of residential roofing systems. Most steep-slope roofs in Laurel are asphalt shingles, with some homes featuring designer shingles, metal, or slate. Low-slope roof areas on residential homes or apartment buildings often use membrane or rolled systems like modified bitumen, EPDM, or TPO.
The right roof type depends on your roof slope, how your roof drains water, how shaded the home is by trees, whether the attic ventilation is doing its job, and any HOA appearance requirements. Below is a quick breakdown of the most popular residential roofing materials in Laurel, MD.
Asphalt Shingles
Architectural asphalt shingles are the most common residential roof material in Laurel because they work well on typical roof pitches and they offer predictable performance at a reasonable price point. They come in a wide range of colors and profiles that fit local home styles, and repair work is usually straightforward when damage is isolated.
Metal Roofing
Metal roofing is a strong option for homeowners who want long service life and are willing to invest more up front. In Laurel, standing seam metal is the premium choice, while metal shingle-style systems can offer a different appearance and budget range. Metal performs well when the roof is designed to manage movement, with correct clips or fasteners, clean transitions, and high-quality flashing at penetrations.
Cedar Shake and Shingle
Cedar shake and shake-look options are less common in Laurel, but some homeowners like the appearance. Real cedar shake requires ongoing maintenance and careful moisture management, especially when homes sit under mature trees. Synthetic shake alternatives can deliver a similar appearance with less routine maintenance, depending on the product and how the system is installed.
Natural and Synthetic Slate
For homes that want a historic or high-end look, slate materials come into the conversation. Natural slate can last a long time, but it is heavy and requires a roof structure that can carry the load. It also depends on flashing work that may need attention long before the slate itself wears out. Synthetic slate can reduce weight and still deliver the look many homeowners want, but the product selection and installation experience matter.
Flat and Low-Slope Roofs
Many Laurel homes include rear extensions or covered patios with slopes under three-eighths of an inch per foot. For these decks, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) membranes provide watertight seams. We heat-weld TPO laps or use seam tape on EPDM, then create tapered insulation crickets around chimneys to prevent ponding.

Commercial Roof Systems For Laurel Businesses
In Laurel, MD, most commercial roofs are low-slope systems, and the “right” roof type usually comes down to how the building handles water, foot traffic, and penetrations. We see everything from small retail strips and offices near busy corridors to warehouses, churches, and light industrial buildings with long roof runs and lots of rooftop equipment. Each of those buildings puts different stress on a roof. Some need a reflective membrane to manage heat. Others need a tough surface that can handle regular service calls from HVAC crews. Many need a clean plan for drains, scuppers, and overflow protection because ponding water is one of the fastest ways to shorten roof life.
TPO Single-Ply Membranes
TPO roofing is one of the most common commercial systems we install and repair. It is a single-ply membrane with heat-welded seams, and seam quality is a major performance factor. When we repair laurel TPO roofs, we confirm weld integrity, correct flashing details at curbs and pipes, and restore proper termination methods so the membrane stays secure through seasonal movement and storm cycles.
EPDM Rubber Roofing
EPDM rubber roofing is another strong commercial option, especially on buildings that need a membrane with flexibility and reliable long-term behavior when installed correctly. EPDM systems depend on correct adhesive application, seam tape performance, and consistent edge and wall terminations. In service calls, we often address seam separation, punctures from foot traffic, and flashing failures around rooftop units and penetrations.
Modified Bitumen
Modified bitumen roofing remains a practical commercial system for many properties, including sections with complex transitions and areas that benefit from a more robust surface. In Laurel, when we service modified bitumen, we focus on restoring watertight continuity at the seams and rebuilding weak edge details so water is not forced into the system.
Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF)
Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing is a commercial and low-slope roofing system where we apply a liquid foam that expands into a seamless, fully adhered layer, then protect it with an elastomeric coating. Once it cures, the foam creates continuous insulation and a monolithic surface, so there are no sheet seams across the main field of the roof.
