Wind Damage Roofing in Maryland
Wind can shift shingles, lift flashing, and open seams in a few seconds. If your roof took a hit from heavy wind gusts this week, you want two things: a fast inspection and a clear repair plan. What often looks like a minor cosmetic issue can quickly turn into leaks and hidden structural problems if it goes unchecked.
Wind damage roofing services are one of our specialties, and we know how to spot problems before they escalate. Our goal is to make the repair process straightforward and dependable so you feel confident about the protection over your home. At RoofPRO, we help Maryland homeowners and businesses recover from storm damage with professional inspections, repairs, and replacements.

Why Timely Repairs Are Essential
Delaying a repair after high winds is risky. Roof systems are designed to work as a unit, and once part of it fails, surrounding materials deteriorate faster. All of this can lead to leaks during the next rain.

How Wind Can Damage Your Roof
Wind behaves differently depending on the roof’s shape, slope, and the quality of materials used. Gusts often hit the edges and corners hardest, where uplift pressure can break seals and loosen shingles. Once one section of the roof is compromised, it becomes easier for the wind to grab the next piece.
Shingles can lift and crease along the tabs. This weakens the seal and leads to blow offs. Edge metal can bend, exposing the roof deck. On flat roofs, TPO and EPDM membranes can loosen at seams and parapets. Slate systems can lose ridge and hip pieces, especially where fasteners has aged.
Common Signs of Wind Damage on Shingles
If you are concerned about possible roof damage, start off by looking from the ground first. Inside the home, check for new ceiling spots, damp insulation smells, or daylight around vents in the attic. Take clear photos and short videos from multiple angles. Do not climb on the roof.
Call RoofPRO for a same day or next day inspection. If water is entering the home move items away from active drips and place a bucket to catch water. Save receipts for temporary tarping and leak mitigation. Insurers usually ask for proof that you reduced further damage.
Here are some of the signs to look for:
- Shingles that are missing, torn, or cracked
- Curled edges or lifted corners
- Granule loss that exposes the base of the shingle
- Horizontal lines on shingles where they have been bent back
When these signs appear, the roof’s waterproofing barrier is weakened. Water intrusion can follow quickly, particularly during Maryland’s heavy rainstorms.
Impact on Gutters, Flashing, and Vents
Wind damage does not stop at shingles. Gutters may twist or pull away from the fascia. Flashing around chimneys and skylights can bend or separate, allowing water to penetrate at vulnerable spots. Even vents can loosen or detach, creating entry points for water and debris.
Hidden Roof Damage After a Storm
Sometimes damage is not visible from the ground. That is why a professional inspection is so important after a storm. RoofPRO inspectors know where to look and how to identify issues before they create more expensive repairs.

Thank you RoofPro for making our roof and skylight replacement as stress free as possible. We had moved into our home five years ago and noticed that our roof, which was only ten years old, was warping and looked like a washboard. We contacted four roofing contractors to diagnose the cause of the problem and to get a quote for two new skylights. There was RoofPro, two local contractors referred to us by neighbors and a large roofing company that advertises frequently on TV. Will Moore from RoofPro stood out as the most experienced and knowledgeable of the estimators. Not only did he show us that the roof was failing because of ventilation problems, he was the only estimator that showed us that our porch roof had structural problems that would need to be addressed before a new roof could be installed. We decided to forego repairs and asked the roofing companies for replacement quotes. RoofPro's proposal was thorough and detailed how the existing ventilation issues would be addressed. The company that advertised on TV just emailed an amount without a detailed contract that was $20,000 higher than RoofPro's and then called back two days later saying they were running a special that was still $12,000 higher. One local roofer did not include the porch roof in their estimate and the fourth one did not submit a written proposal. We signed our contract with RoofPro even though one of the proposals was slightly lower. They were the most knowledgeable, detailed and didn't use any gimmicks with their pricing. Within two days of signing our contract our project was scheduled for the following week. Our project manager, Ken Stanley, and his work crew showed up promptly at 7:30 to begin work. Ken was on site all day and was easily approachable to answer our questions. The new skylights required access to the inside of our home and the workers showed great care covering our floors and furniture and putting up plastic curtains to keep dust from spreading throughout our home. When their work was completed they made sure that everything was as clean as when they arrived. The new roof, skylights and cleanup were all completed the same day. We are very happy with the look of our new roof and love our new skylights. I highly recommend that anyone considering any exterior work to their home get an estimate from RoofPro.Posted on Michael M34Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very professional and quick to respond. They stand by their work.Posted on Michael MeyerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Roof Pro provided rapid and efficient response to our leaky roof problem. Jim Para conducted a thorough evaluation both inside and outside the structure and provided detailed feedback and potential fix action options. With the age of the house and previous water damage we chose a complete roof system replacement. Bracing for the cost, we were thrilled with the final estimate. Ken Stanley and his installation team's professionalism, quality of workmanship, and speed in getting the leaky roof replaced before the upcoming rains set in thankfully prevented further water damage . We witnessed a well oiled machine in operation. Well Done Roof Pro. We highly recommended this team !! v/r MikePosted on Skip NeesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great past experiences with Jim Para and RoofPRO at both our house and our daughters. This time it was just a small leak. Jim was prompt in stopping by to take a look and give us the estimate. Very pleased they had a slot open up in a few days and the repair was done before the next big rain. Crew was great showing me the bad plywood which they then replaced. Amazing how well they matched the rest of the roof even though those shingles are twenty years old. Really appreciate the detailed before and after photos they provided.Posted on Ewan AlexanderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The crew did a terrific job. Quite professional.
RoofPRO’s Wind Damage Roofing Services
We have developed a wind damaged roofing process that covers both immediate needs and long-term protection.
Free Roof Inspections After Storms
Our team provides detailed inspections to document the condition of your roof. We take photos and prepare written findings that you can share with your insurance company.
Emergency Roof Tarping and Temporary Solutions
If your roof has been compromised, we install heavy-duty tarps to prevent further water entry. This stabilizes the home until repairs or replacement can be scheduled.
Roof Repair vs. Full Replacement Options
Some roofs only need targeted shingle or flashing repair. Others with extensive wind damage may require full replacement. Small areas with clear boundaries can be restored with new shingles, sealed flashing, and a strong starter course. Flat roofs with isolated seam failures can often be patched successfully if the membrane remains pliable and the substrate is sound. We explain your options clearly so you can make an informed decision.

Preventing Future Wind Damage
While no roof is completely immune to high winds, there are ways to reduce risk. Certain shingles and roofing systems are rated for higher wind speeds. Architectural asphalt shingles, standing seam metal roofing, and tile are common options that offer better resistance. Flat roofing systems like TPO and EPDM also perform well when properly installed. You receive a written workmanship warranty for repairs or replacement. Manufacturer material warranties apply based on the product you choose and the system we install.
Proper Roof Installation and Ventilation
Correct installation techniques are essential. Nailing patterns, underlayment choice, and ventilation systems all influence how a roof handles wind pressure. RoofPRO follows manufacturer specifications to maximize durability.
Regular Maintenance and Inspections
Routine inspections and minor repairs help extend the life of your roof. Clearing debris, tightening fasteners, and resealing flashing all make a difference when storms arrive.
Working With Insurance Companies
Roof damage from wind is often covered by insurance. The challenge for homeowners is documenting the damage and navigating the claims process. RoofPRO works directly with homeowners for their insurance claims. We provide clear inspection reports, photos, detailed repair estimates, and ensure your claim is processed efficiently. Our goal is to reduce the stress of navigating the paperwork while restoring your roof quickly.
Schedule Your RoofPRO Wind Damage Inspection Today
Storm damage should never be ignored. Our crews are available for emergency calls when storms strike. We understand how disruptive a leaking roof can be, and we respond quickly to secure your home. Emergency tarping can often be same day. Standard wind inspections are typically scheduled within 24 hours during peak storm periods. Repair timelines depend on material availability and weather. We schedule around incoming rain to avoid exposing the deck.Frequently Asked Questions About Wind Damage Roofing
Missing or lifted shingles, bent flashing, loose gutters, and water stains in the attic are clear signs. Sometimes the damage is subtle, which is why inspections matter.
It depends on the severity. Minor issues may only require repair, but widespread shingle loss or structural damage often means replacement is the better choice.
Most policies cover wind damage, but the details depend on your insurer and policy terms. RoofPRO helps document the damage to support your claim.
Ideally within 24 hours. Prompt inspections prevent additional water intrusion and ensure insurance requirements are met.
Gusts around 45 to 55 miles per hour can crease older or heat aged shingles. Higher gusts can remove tabs or ridge caps.
