We had moved into our home five years ago and noticed that our roof, which was only ten years old, was warping and looked like a washboard.  We contacted four roofing contractors to diagnose the cause of the problem and to get a quote for two new skylights.  There was RoofPro, two local contractors referred to us by neighbors and a large roofing company that advertises frequently on TV.  Will Moore from RoofPro stood out as the most experienced and knowledgeable of the estimators. Not only did he show us that the roof was failing because of ventilation problems, he was the only estimator that showed us that our porch roof had structural problems that would need to be addressed before a new roof could be installed.

We decided to forego repairs and asked the roofing companies for replacement quotes.  RoofPro's proposal was thorough and detailed how the existing ventilation issues would be addressed.  The company that advertised on TV just emailed an amount without a detailed contract that was $20,000 higher than RoofPro's and then called back two days later saying they were running a special that was still $12,000 higher.  One local roofer did not include the porch roof in their estimate and the fourth one did not submit a written proposal. We signed our contract with RoofPro even though one of the proposals was slightly lower.  They were the most knowledgeable, detailed and didn't use any gimmicks with their pricing.

Within two days of signing our contract our project was scheduled for the following week. Our project manager, Ken Stanley, and his work crew showed up promptly at 7:30 to begin work. Ken was on site all day and was easily approachable to answer our questions.  The new skylights required access to the inside of our home and the workers showed great care covering our floors and furniture and putting up plastic curtains to keep dust from spreading throughout our home.  When their work was completed they made sure that everything was as clean as when they arrived.  The new roof, skylights and cleanup were all completed the same day.

We are very happy with the look of our new roof and love our new skylights.  I highly recommend that anyone considering any exterior work to their home get an estimate from RoofPro.

Jim Para conducted a thorough evaluation both inside and outside the structure and provided detailed feedback and potential fix action options. With the age of the house and previous water damage we chose a complete roof system replacement. Bracing for the cost, we were thrilled with the final estimate. Jim was prompt in stopping by to take a look and give us the estimate.  Very pleased they had a slot open up in a few days and the repair was done before the next big rain.  Crew was great showing me the bad plywood which they then replaced.  Amazing how well they matched the rest of the roof even though those shingles are twenty years old. Flexible Sun Tunnel®

It’s beneficial to use the flexible tubes for situations where the attic space has obstacles prohibiting a direct tube. This product is highly recommended due to its exceptional ability to fit into unique attic types, because of how many situations it can adapt to.

Rigid Sun Tunnel®

If the path from the roof to the ceiling is straight and unobstructed, rigid tubes are the recommended option. However, it’s worth noting that they can still be slightly maneuvered if necessary.

A sun tunnel operates by capturing natural sunlight from your roof and reflecting it into your home through a series of mirrored ducts and tunnels. The device consists of three main components: a domed flashing on the roof, mirrored ducts to transfer light, and a ceiling-mounted diffuser in your desired room.

Components of a Sun Tunnel

The three main components of a sun tunnel that allow it to bring in natural light include a dome-shaped flashing installed on the roof to “catch” the sunlight, mirrored ducts to transfer the light, and a diffuser installed on the ceiling of the desired room in order to display the natural light.

Dome and Flashing on the Roof

Sun tunnels start on your home’s roofing with a sealed and durable dome and flashing kit. The dome captures the sunlight and directs it into the mirrored ducts below to be transferred throughout your home. The flashing kit is what protect the transition between the roofing material and the dome.

Mirrored Ducts to Transfer Light

The mirrored ducts serve as the actual “tunnel” by transferring the sunlight from the roof to the ceiling-mounted diffuser in your desired room. What is VELUX Sun Tunnel® Solar Night Light?

The VELUX Sun Tunnel® Solar Night Light can be installed inside your VELUX Rigid Sun Tunnel® Skylight, offering a gentle and calming illumination from above when there’s insufficient natural light.

By combining the Solar Night Light with VELUX Rigid Sun Tunnel®, you qualify for a federal tax credit. However, please note that the Solar Night Light is not compatible with VELUX Flexible Sun Tunnel®.

What are the available sizes of Sun Tunnel®?

VELUX offers Sun Tunnel® Skylights in two different diameters, 10″ and 14″. To determine the appropriate size for your space, your installer can guide you. Although primarily intended for commercial use, VELUX does provide 22″ Sun Tunnel® Skylights as well.

The standard kit for your Sun Tunnel® type will include either 6 or 8 feet of tunnel. However, if you need more, additional extension options are available.
